I sent out tons of press kits before my band toured the Northeast. If an editor didn’t write about my band, can I ask the paper to send my stuff back?

Not on your life. Chalk it up to the costs of business and move on. To increase your chances of getting reviewed, send your package at least four weeks in advance to the actual name of the music editor. Call and confirm receipt, and also ask if he/she would be willing to write about your band. If the answer is no, find out why and make notes for the next time you’re in town.
