Music Publicity Blog Case Study - Entry #3

Today was a was a light day at musicpublicityblog.com, since I traveled from NYC to Ithaca, NY this morning.

However, one thing I did do today was mail a new CD to Pandora.com so my CD Supernova can get added to their database. Pandora users can enter the name of their favorite song or artist and learn about other songs, famous or obscure, that have “interesting musical similarities” to their original choice. In other words, you’ll find lots of other songs to fall in love with!

I don’t know how long this process will take, but during the first NYC Meetup for the Thirty Day Challenge, Ed Dale had a great theory for search engine optimization which involved finding other artists in your musical genre. I can’t wait to test his theory, but I have to get my music indexed in Pandora first. Regardless, I’m happy that my press kit is in the mail!

Here are today’s current statistics for musicpublicityblog.com:

  • Google Page Rank: #44 out of 35,000 competing pages for exact match
  • Number of visitors yesterday, September 11, 2008: 10
  • Affiliate Sales: $0

I’ve fallen in page rank in the past two days, but after paying attention to the search engines on a daily basis, I now expect rankings to continually shift. Just like life, I suppose ;-) )

I received an awesome email newsletter today from Market Samurai which I printed out to read on my bus ride. I’m so glad that I did that, because the Market Samurai tool has the ability to find quality backlinks. I was really glad that I read (and reread and reread) their article, because this will enable me to increase the page ranking of this music publicity blog. Each day I learn something new, and I’m enjoying testing these things out.

Thanks for visiting my music publicity blog!
